A note on pricing.

You may or may not have noticed that I've taken a bit of time away from painting, and from the task of selling paintings. I've been working on Death As A Salesman and my new book, Subject to Verification, almost exclusively for over 2 years now. Now the book is done, and the performance is in chrysalis form for the time being.

As far as selling paintings goes, after 2008 most of the galleries I had been working with either went out of business or had shocking declines in sales, so I decided to go direct.

My generally-agreed upon art prices (GAAP) have lowered as a result (no splitting profits), and I was going to send out an email blast to that effect, but I had a reservation: I have in the past done holiday sales with significant price breaks. I feel that it would be cruel to put up paintings in October, and then reduce the prices at Thanksgiving. So we're going to just go with the (new, lower) holiday prices now, through December of this year.

One more point with pricing: The only thing that works for me is my own comfort level, which accounts for some otherwise unaccountable price differentials. It's like children, you're not supposed to have favorites. But it's impossible. Sometimes I just like this one better than that one. So prices change with my mood, which changes ALL THE TIME. So what I'm saying is, do not hesitate to make an offer on a painting. You might catch me at my most ebullient and Jupiterian and luck out.

It's nice to be back painting pictures.
